Campus is absolutely gorgeous.Quite BrightPsychology
Campus is absolutely gorgeous...until Frat Row gets done with it. Besides the whole riot thing, university is pretty calm, but whatever you're looking for, you can find in terms of hobbies, people, entertainment, mayhem.;) Biggest thing I always hear is "it's too big..." but once you get past freshman year and a couple huge classes (which are nice cuz you can blend in at first and look around) it's only as big as you make it...get involved with something (i took an on-campus job) and you'll enter a closeknit community that has the option of becoming bigger and using university's many resources and opinions.

UMCP is a giant bureaucracy, that depersonalizes studentsQuite BrightPolitical Science
UMCP is a giant bureaucracy, that depersonalizes students and makes everyone feel like an insignificant number. The academics are pretty dry -- little discussion, and a very unintellectual campus. The social life revolves around sports, beer, frats, and more beer. The surrounding town of College Park is dangerous, dirty, and spotted with some sleezy bars. I am trying to transfer out of here ASAP!!!

The University of Maryland at College Park is a beautiful campus that is diverse opportunity filled. I actually transferred here from a small school in upstate New York and find that I love it here so much more because of the diverse population and constantly having something to do.
