I loved Maryland.Electrical Engineering
I loved Maryland. Every school has a couple of drawbacks--true, you're going to have to walk a bit between your tech and non-tech classes, the meal plan gets old, and tix for b-ball games can be hard to get, but I had a great experience. Lived on campus throughout, did several co-op tours with the local NASA center. The co-op program is a good thing--definitely consider it if it's available in your major. Living on campus was fun, and useful as far as study groups go. Study groups are important--don't burn bridges with your classmates. And it's a big enough school that you can do piles of other things--see cultural events, shows, art exhibits, guest speakers, etc. It's about more than just your classes, though classes are your priority. Lots of activities--I put together two or three newsletters regularly for different (tech and non-tech) organizations. I highly recommend UMCP. But bring good walking shoes when you go there. :)

I really liked UM.Business - Management and Administration
I really liked UM....i came from a really small high school where my graduating class was only a 120 and all girls...going from that type of setting to a huge setting wasn't difficult at UM..especially since i was also in the scholars program..but there's enough different "groups of people" to find that you fit into at least one....also lots of opportunity to interact with people of different backgrounds whatever they might be...lower level lecture classes are HUGE..but the discussions for those classes are usually in small enough setting where you end up getting to know at least one person...upper level you'll notice having the same classes with the same people over and over again.....although some classes might be big...there's usually lots of group/team projects making the class seem smaller....i made most of my life long friends at UM....we all had a blast....partying hard and studying hard...overall it's a good school...has all the basic things that people look for in a school.... good academic departments if not highly rated...nice campus...close to DC...etc.

I love the physics department.Physics
I love the physics department. The rest of the campus is so-so. Other big departments (engineering, comp sci) seem so obsessed with grades, whereas physics (only 180 majors) seems to care about learning and getting undergraduates involved with research. The university as a whole seems to care more about the appearances (of the campus and of the student body and its achievements) and sports (which I do think are important just not as much as this campus makes them out to be) than with the students specifically. Plus, the dorms here are not great, and eating in the dining hall is terrible if you happen to be a vegetarian or are just picky.
