Although UMCP is largely a commuter school, thereQuite BrightMechanical Engineering
Although UMCP is largely a commuter school, there are more than enough students living on campus to make things fun and interesting. It is amazing how many clubs and extra-curricular activites there are on campus. However, don't expect opportuities to drop on your lap; you actually have to be independent enough to look around and find activities that you enjoy. The student body is extremely diverse. This means that you'll be able to make a lot of cool friends. I have to admit that since I live around the area, a lot of my firends also came to this school. Even so, I rarely spend too much time with them. The academics here are pretty easy - at least for the first semester. Most of the material in your first few classes are almost like a review from high school. I'm sure things will get much tougher in the semesters to come. As for the social scene at Maryland, I find it fairly decent. The school tries to sponser events every now and then, but the majority of the fun comes from partying. There are parties almost every night and a lot of people drink here at Maryland. I personlly don't drink - and I don't feel like I'm loosing out on anything. There are so many other things to do on campus. The most important thing is to try to get involved. Find a group that you are interested in. Find a group of people that you feel comfortable to be around. I have only spent a few weeks here at Maryland and I love this school! It is awesome. Sports are always a highlight. If you come here, you definitely have to see a football or basketball game. As for right now, I couldn't imagine going to another school. This is a great place to be. Go Terps!

Question
I really like the academics here at Maryland,Super BrilliantPolitical Science
I really like the academics here at Maryland, however I find the social scene dead. The University tries it's hardest to squelch underage drinking (everyone I know got at least one alcohol citation before turning 21, even people who DON'T DRINK!). Greek life seems fun, however if you are not in a frat/sor then don't expect greeks to be too friendly. There are 3 and a half bars in College Park. This is pathetic for a semi-urban school. There aren't enough restaurants, and there just isn't anything to do in town. For fun, your choices are off-campus parties and Baltimore/DC. Without an ID, you are left with the off-campus parties. The city of college park is the largest disappointment at Maryland!

Question
The path to success doesn't solely rest onArchitecture
The path to success doesn't solely rest on education and performance. Social contacts and circumtance also play an important role. Unfortunately no one really cares about your "cirumstance". People are only interested in results. So remember your path might not be the idea one, but it is your only one...you HAVE to make it work for you. Most importantly,if you have no self esteem you have nothing.
