I really don't think York College is a very bad school but I do think there could be room for improvement. As many people have stated earlier, the social scene isn't that great unless you plan on drinking and partying every weekend. CAB, the Campus Activities Board, does organize some events here and there but there really hasn't been anything really new and exciting since the 4 years I have been here except for the last 2 recent concerts we had. I also think there could be more clubs on campus that weren't just based on sports or majors.

When it comes to the people on campus, I have never felt that people here were hard to talk to. I think being that it's a small school, people are willing to talk to each other in class. I think York really has the great advantage of getting to know students in your major more closely and being able to really work with each other to do well on assignments and projects.

When it comes to overall education, I would say it depends on the major. For my major, I felt that many of the classes were strictly theory based and really didn't prepare me for most of the jobs out there for my major. I also had some very poor professors who pretty much required you to teach yourself with exams that didn't match up with what we were learning. I understand in college you have to take more responsibility but in those classes, the whole class struggled and there were constant curves. College should be challenging but not ridiculous. I have felt that by talking to professors, I was able to get a better idea of what they wanted and I think it's the best way to help your grade if you are really struggling. I did pretty well in college but I think I could have had a great GPA minus a few classes that were taught horribly. I do think that being that's it's a small school, it's inevitable that's you will end up with some poor professors.

In terms of safety, I have always felt safe on campus until this year. I do think they should patrol more around DuPont during night or have lights just to make students feel more safe.

It would be great if there was more variety in food or like a store near campus that would have greater options than what is in the small bookstore. The food in the dining halls is either a hit or a miss. I do think they have been improving slowly though.
