A great American university with an outstanding reputation worldwide. A member of the Association of American Universities and considered a "public Ivy" (along with some of the UCs, William and Mary, UNC Chapel Hill, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, etc.). Also has one of the best medical school in the world and a top 25 law school. Seattle is a cool city, too! (See also, Shanghai Ranking, Times Higher Education Ranking, National Taiwan University Ranking, etc.)

You forgot to mention that it is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.

Great Pac-12 sports, too.

I live in Arizona and want to leave the heat. I'm looking at UW but have heard that it's a "fratty" commuter school. Is that true? It seems pretty easy to get into. What's your e-mail address?

Small percentage in Greek life. Thousands of students live on campus. You will want to have over a 3.7 unweighted GPA and at least a 2000 SAT (or at least a 30 Composite ACT), along with an excellent personal statement, to be comfortable about admissions chances (for Honors Program, it would be more like 3.9 unweighted, 2100/33)—in other words, to be in the top half of admits.
