Attending this university was a huge mistake. It took me about a month to figure out that I really didn't like anything about going to U of M. Unless you are from the surrounding areas and are a part of greek life or in the athletics department there is absolutely nothing to do at this university. There is little to no school spirit here and everyone is well aware that the school sucks at just about everything apart from the success of the dance team. Unless you are a Minnesota native and know upperclassmen or are a part of greek life there is practically no social scene at this university. Dinky Town is claimed to be an awesome downtown area to hit up on weekends but it is nothing more than a few blocks of crappy restaurants that you can't afford as a college student anyway. As far as academics, I enjoyed most of my classes at this university but the counselors offer little to no help if you're undecided about your major. Most teachers are fairly approachable and friendly, but there are others who don't seem to know what they're teaching and don't speak clear english. The only thing i enjoyed at U of M was the new Rec Center; it's large, new, and classes are fun and fairly cheap. Aside from that, I dreaded every moment I was at this University—I am transferring to UW Madison and couldn't be more excited.
