What exactly do you dislike most about Rowan and are you still attending the school or plan on transferring? |
This sounds slightly administrative, but OK. I dislike the complacency and lack of focus. I feel Rowan could become an even better school (it is a good one) if it was able to motivate the student body more by providing opportunities, networking, incentives, etc. There should be more academic ECs, too. |
Rowan is a joke. My professors were nice people who had no idea what their field was actually like as all of their experience has been in books. The quality of students has dropped, as it seems like they'll take anyone who can pay. |
That's an incredibly broad dismissal of Rowan. There are some students who are obnoxious and lazy, but I've found that the majority of students do care about doing well. Many are quite bright and have plenty of redeeming qualities. All but one of my professors have been excellent teachers, for real. My issues are more with the school as an environment. Just my opinion, you have yours. |
Being a student that is currently attending Ramapo I can ensure you it is far from "rigorous" |
Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
Rowan has somewhat of a rep as a party/slacker school. However, it's a decent place, neither great nor bad. It is more intelligent than it seems, and there are plenty of opportunities to get academically/socially involved.Pros: Most profs are high quality. Generally friendly students. Attractive campus. Many of the clubs have intelligent & nice people. Although many students party, it's easy to keep your distance from the party places.Cons: Dull, unambitious, and often lonely place. (Keep in mind, all colleges can feel lonely to ppl.) Little school spirit; students mostly concerned with getting by. Two-thirds of students are commuters.Freshman orientation was painfully boring, awkward, and depressing. Don't expect to make your friends there. If you can, make some excuse to get out of it early. It's basically useless. If you want an enjoyable and rigorous state school, try Rutgers, Montclair, or Ramapo. If you're looking for a place to start off your college career (with intention of transferring/great grad school), community college is not a bad idea. It will be cheaper and more motivational.
