The school is 60% Asian. Not that I am elitist or racist, however, foreigners tend to "shut up" keep their heads down, and go along with any and everything. This does not provide for a health and wholesome academic environment. In other words they do not DARE speak up or against injustices. The school is UGLY AS HELL. Depressing looking architecture, sad and depressing looking students. Dull and un-alive students plague this university. The faculty takes themselves too seriously. The atmosphere at UIC is one of fear, paranoia, and pure individualism. Overall, the atmosphere here toxic. HOWEVER, UIC does have great science/medical/engineering programs. And there are a few Great Professors. But overall, no one appears to be enjoying life. Or even contented with life or themselves. and the students do not speak to each other. It is a clannish environment. Every ethnicity hangs within their own enclaves and most of the students project a severe low-self esteem persona. Even the honor students-who mostly do not speak in class and look like dears in headlights when they are spoken too.
