Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
Got my history BA here. It was fine. I was overqualified for the university but it was the only school I applied to, nearby and cheap. school is strictly commuter so if you want to spend your time in college running around naked with your frat brothers dont even consider FAU. Class experience is mixed and likely depends on ur major. If you take a traditional b.s. degree (sociology, criminal justice etc) class is going to be miserable and a waste of time. lower level classes are generally worthless so if you can take any 3000 and 4000 classes ur first year I'd recommend it.

History faculty was surprisingly well qualified and effective. Came from good schools—my thesis instructor was from Georgetown—and taught the class effectively. Islamic history teacher was from U Mich. and Asian history prof was from Harvard. Not just FIU and UCF BAs like in the core classes. Find the good ones on rate my prof.- ratings there are pretty accurate. Avoid Prof. Ganson in Davie—useless woman. Then again, if ur taking 6 classes that semester and want an easy A, she's the one to go to. Took minors in Econ and Poli Sci. Again upper-level professors were very good. I only attended the lower-level classes on exam day (what happens to the demand for toast when the price of butter goes up…not exactly hard stuff…)

To wrap it up: pick your major and classes wisely. Its worth the drive to a different campus if thats where the good professor is teaching. Dont go here if your expecting a social life right out of Animal House. Thats Dartmouth and your not gonna get in there if your even considering FAU. Approach college realistically: unless ur going to a top 50 college, DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON IT. Go in-state and somewhere you know you can succeed. FAU is not particularly challenging and you can leave with a high GPA. I am now going to law school up in DC so coming from a TTT undergrad did not hold me back at all.
