I'm one of those I-hated-Geneseo reviewers. I'm also from the city. I had other options for college and quickly transferred out. If you're from upstate, want to stay close to home and not experience too much of a culture shock, go to Geneseo. Or if Geneseo was simply the best school to accept you, I guess I understand why you might go (or maybe not. I know people that briefly considered Geneseo because of its reputation but instead went to lesser known institutions like Oneonta or New Paltz. They seemed pretty happy with their decisions). I'm someone who chose Geneseo over NYU and *drum roll please* I was completely miserable. Throughout my freshman year, I kept reminding myself that I was saving thousands of dollars by attending a SUNY. It would be worth it in the long run. All I needed to do was get a degree in 3-4 years and get out. I told myself I'd have better experience in grad school. Well fuck that. My sanity became more important. The depression I experienced there was beginning to affect my school work. The college I currently attend is muuuuch more expensive. I will be deep in debt by the time I graduate but I'm so much happier here, I think its worth it. Honestly, I'd rather owe the federal government millions of dollars than once again attend Geneseo. A few good things about the school: There is a ton of school pride. Some people complain about feeling stranded but if you're creative enough, you can have a good time. Parties are frequent and easy to find. There are a ton of prayer groups on campus, so if you're religious (specifically Christian) you'll prob feel spiritually at home. Its easy to get involved in things on campus and its fairly easy to get an on-campus job. The classes are refreshingly challenging and grade inflation is low (I guess this could be a liability for some prospective students)
