This school isn't great. In fact, it kinda blows. I'm not sure how some people had positive experiences here. If you LOVE to drink, maybe it would be fun but I drink a lot too and after awhile, even parties get boring here. The frat life here blows too. Theres even "fake frats" that function just like a frat but aren't considered good enough to be real. Lame.

I wish I didn't fall for its reputation as a public ivy like many of the other comments have talked about earlier. Theres not too many bright people here,

I haven't really had an intelligent conversation which surprising since its supposed to be the "best suny"

Plus I also get annoyed that the overwhelming population actually look down on minorities. Geneseo is a racist and ignorant school. Coming here made me miss my highschool friends who are at better schools that are more openminded and fun. I'm actually white so I don't know what it feels like to be a minority but I've had many friends of different races but here its looked down on. That's just disgusting. I dont see many interracial couples- probably because its considered "weird" here. Um… What the fuck?

I saw maybe one or it looked like one but the guy turned out to be a racist and a misogynist. Shit man I don't know how I ended up in this hellhole… Sorry for my rant.

I'm just so bitter that my freshmen year of college ended up like this. The school is actually poorly funded and they don't tell you this on tours of the school. With 3 majors cut already, the diverse talents of students are also being cut. Please leave if you feel the same. Im going to Stonybrook where its more diverse and just has more activities and fun things to do. Plus more openminded students.

responseI wanted to write this as a separate comment without having to review the whole school but unfortunately, it won't let me do that and the "casual comment" thing isn't working. So sorry reviewer, but I'm tagging onto your post even though it's a general response:

I would like to just respond to the comments made about racism and lack of interracial couples. I don't dispute that there is racism or that other people have not seen interracial couples. However, although I am not a minority myself, I am close to a few people of minority races. They have never experienced racism (I have asked them), although they have experienced a little ignorance (though they also said they experience ignorance wherever they are. I mean really, do you expect to go anywhere where that doesn't exist?). In my years there, I was friends with four interracial couples (all black and white couples) and no one ever bothered them. I also knew of a few more who were of other minority races with a white person, but I didn't know them well enough to say what it was like for them. Maybe that's not a lot but looking back on my high school, which had a wayyyyyy more diverse population, I only knew of one interracial relationship. If you're expecting a school where there is no racism or ignorance, you won't find it at Geneseo. You also won't find it anywhere else. I can't speak for other people but in my experience, taking into account the experience of those around me who it's more applicable to, Geneseo is not worse than most other places and is even better than many. I found the student body to be generally open-minded and accepting.
