So far I have had a great time at Lehigh not just socially but academically as well. My first semester at school was rough and I often thought of transferring but looking back now I realize that it was just because I was so far from home (8 hours) in a completely different environment that I wasn't used to yet. After talking to my friends from home they felt the same way about their schools. I think a lot of people on here don't give Lehigh a fair chance any school you go to is going to be tough your first semester. That being said I can understand that Lehigh might not be the best school for everyone but thats why their are so many colleges to choose from. Just because it wasnt a right fit for some people is no reason to condemn the college as a whole. As for the social scene and the student body, greek life does dominate the social scene here. The school says that greek life only accounts for 33% of the school but those figures don't include incoming freshman and seniors making the number closer to 50%. From what I have seen most students either find a social outlet through their sports team or greek life because their really isn't much else until you turn 21 or get a fake and can go to the bars around campus. Drinking is abundant here and you can pretty much find a frat party tues-sat but that doesn't mean you have to drink or will be pressured to but your options are quite limited as the surrounding town is kind of scary at night. The student body itself is pretty homogeneous consisting of a lot of white rich kids from NY or jersey. They are not bad people by far and a majority of people I have met are extremely kind I just think people come across bad because they come from such different backgrounds that things can be perceived in a bad light. As for the academics they have been great so far. I am an their integrated business and engineering program and I can not tell you the resources it has provided me. The teachers go out of their way to make sure any student that wants to succeed can. There are tutors available to all students for most classes for free and the professors are always willing to meet one on one to clarify anything you missed in class even if it is in a huge lecture class. The career center is also very helpful and easy to use for mock interviews and setting up interviews.Overall Lehigh gives all its students the tools to succeed and position themselves so that they will be successful in finding a job and starting a successful career after graduation. So make sure you take advantage of all this school has to offer!
