Keep in mind that everyone's college experience is different, but here are some things that I wish I had known before I chose to go here. 1) Greek life is absolutely dominant - While it is true that most students are not Greek, there is hardly anything to do on the weekends and your life will be boring as hell. So if you like to have some fun in your life and don't just want to sit around in your dorm room, go Greek. However, if Greek is not for you, then you might want to look at a different school.2) The weather sucks - I'm from Iowa, but being next to Lake Michigan is horrendous. Spring never seems to arrive, and you have 40 degree days in May. Go some place warm instead; you won't regret it. 3) Almost every intro class/sophomore class is structured to "weed students out." This makes getting good grades a challenge, especially since your grade is determined by how well you did relative to others. So make sure you're ready to study a lot and beat bright students like yourself. So if you can deal with a miserable social life, bad weather, and annoying classes then come to Northwestern. Oh, one more thing…4) Even though Chicago is right next to you, no one ever goes into the city, because no one simply has the time and it's too much of a hassle.
