I absolutely love Fordham(I attend the Rose Hill campus so I won't be writing about the Lincoln Center campus). It is a beautiful school with a great reputation(that is only getting better). While the school is in the Bronx, the campus is completely gated and nothing like the city campuses of other schools like NYU or BU. This provides students with the best of both worlds: A traditional college campus and easy access to the greatest city in the world.

There is a subway station just a few blocks from campus, which students frequently take to go into Manhattan for shopping, an occasional dinner, sight-seeing ect. There is also a Metro-North train station right off campus. The Bronx has a bad rep but I have never felt unsafe in the area surrounding my campus. Obviously, students should not walk around alone off campus late at night, but that's a good rule of thumb for wherever one goes to school, not just at Fordham.

Fordham Road is a busy and booming shopping district. The Arthur Avenue area(Little Italy) is on the other side of campus. This is where most nightlife takes place. There are several bars in that area that will let you in as long as you're a Fordham Student. Only one bar, Howl at the Moon, won't serve you if you aren't 21 but it's easy enough to get people to buy you drinks. The crowds at these bars are almost all Fordham Students, though Howl will let in locals who tend to stand around in the corners or near the bar. Besides the bars, there are plenty of off-campus apartment parties. There are no frats at Fordham so sports teams typically throw parties(football house, ect.). Some party houses are just a bunch of Fordham students trying to make a few bucks by charging $5 for kegs and jungle juice but these are still a lot of fun.

Keep in mind that Fordham is not a party school. If that's what you're looking for, this is not the place for you. If you want to do well at this school, you will need to put in some serious effort. This isn't the kind of school where people go out 5 nights a week. Friday and Saturday night are always busy of course, and Tuesday is also a big going-out night here. You won't find a lot of people out on other nights. Needless to say, there is always something to do if you're bored, especially since the school is only a 45 min. subway ride to midtown Manhattan.

As a Jesuit school, Fordham encourages getting involved both on and off campus. Almost all students are involved, whether it be in on-campus clubs or volunteering at POTS, the soup kitchen that is just a short walk from campus. Also, internships are very easy to come by and convenient due to the school's location and connections.
There are all sorts of people at Fordham: jocks, hipsters, nerds, rich private school kids, ect. Like anywhere else, you will find some douchey jocks, rich kids who think they're hot shit, potheads and the like. That's what's so great about this school: there is no one "typical" Fordham student and it's easy enough to find other people like you, no matter who you are.

Of course, I don't love every single thing about Fordham. There are plenty of outdated rules(due to this being a Catholic school). For instance, guests(even if they are Fordham students and live in another dorm) must be signed out by 3:30 or you get a fine of $15. This is to discourage male/female relations that can occur from being together late at night but let's be real, this is college. Obviously, these rules don't stop students from having sex. Technically, you are only allowed to get overnight passes for people of the same sex but trust me, these rules are all very easy to get around. Despite what I believe are silly rules, I can't imagine myself at any other school and am so happy I made the choice to go to Fordham..Go Rams!

responseThank you for this post.. As an incoming freshman, this helped calm a lot of my previous fears and doubts. I'm excited to be a Ram now :)
responseThere is a subway only a few meters away from the park, which pupils daily get to visit Manhattan for different reasons. The Metro-North train station is also off campus. We are giving best essay writing service in usa to them. The Bronx has not a very good status but I have not got it secure or in the vicinity of my university.
commentFordham University is a great school. It has a lot of nice things, and it's a great school. The school has very good students, and its teachers are also very good. It's also a big school so there are always lots of people around. Go to landscape cement edging hanover for more useful ideas. It's also located in New York City which is one of the biggest cities in the USA. The city is beautiful and it has many different kinds of buildings and places to visit.
