Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a Transfer Freshmen here and Man do I miss University at Buffalo. The difference between the schools are night and day.

First Dorming:

at UB I was a commuter student at UB so I lived in the comforts of my own home. Here at Geneseo I am in a "suite" with five strangers. I am sort of a Germ-a-phobe and seeing excrements on the toilet seat freaked me out. Also another thing about dorming is living with people you don't know. My roomate is a literally a wall. I tried my best to communicate with him become friends, well I have given up hope the room has awkward silence when we are both in the room. My other room mates are stoners, they smoke weed, do acid, and drink in the suite. Yes, you are not allowed to do that stuff in dorms but there is always a loop hole, and also the fact that RAs don't care. Dorming is suppose to get you closer to the college but it just pushes me farther and farther away.

Classes:

Classes are not too challenging here, but it is the professor who makes it challenging. I am a Biology major and the Bio classes are not to bad as long as you have common sense and decent studying skills you are good. The professors here are either hit or completely miss. Some are helpful, some are lazy, some don't care, and others have a stick in their ass. Good luck to those who take chemistry, the professor are inept socially. They cannot teach period, they present lectures with equations you are expected to know before hand what every variable in that equation means, even if it is a equation that they made up. Another great professor is the one with a stick in their ass aka a english teacher. I am a Bio major, I hate everything that deals with english. Part of the requirements is to take a writing course to graduate. I am not a good writer, if you can tell by this essay, so when I went to visit my teacher to review my paper she scoffed at me. Every possible little mistake she made a joke of it, I in the meantime was curling into a ball of depression.

Food:

Food is repetitive everyday. If you want to avoid eating a lot of carbs good luck. I tried that and every meal I had was pure carbs! Good luck on avoiding weight gain.

Community:

When you come to Geneseo you are expected to see an average of around ten farms, and a good amount of cows. As for the scenery you look out into a valley that is composed of farms that make the town of Geneseo smell like shit on those extra warm days. The town is boring, there is a movie theatre but it is far from any Regals. There is also your local wegmans and a Wal Mart. Speaking of Wal Mart, every local is a hick you can tell that they did not go to Geneseo…… or did they?

Social:

You like to get drunk and forget about how miserable your life s at Geneseo, then the weekends are great for you. I on the other hand do not drink so my weekends consist of DREAMING of being back home, and doing homework. I do hang out with friends and I am a very social person, which is hard with this anti-social student body, but we end up watching TV or going to find something to do in Rochester for the weekends. As for school events there is nothing, sports are ok to see but they are only a half of a step up from high school sports.

all in all I suggest that you do not go to Geneseo it is not as good as it is made out to be. As for its high rankings in polls well that is because students who sacrificed their social life for studies might have panned out, as for others they might be working in the local wal mart. As for myself I am not going to be attending this school next fall, rather I am heading back to UB. If UB is one of your choices I reccomend it all the way. With its high division 1 sports, great concerts, distinguished speakers series, city like feel to it, and its great education, is something that made it a college experience. People there have a balance of a good study habits and a tremendous Social life. Professors are helpful and UB sets you up to succede and not fail. SORRY FOR THE LENGTH BUT THAT IS HOW MUCH I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT GENESEO. thank you for reading.
