Rowan was not my first choice school. In fact I forgot I had applied at all and then forgot I had gotten accepted. I was planning on going to a totally different school but I'm really glad that I ended up here.

Like any school Rowan has its good and bad traits. However, the good things greatly exceed the bad in my experience so far.

Rowan provides excellent housing and students (for the most part) are only stuck in dorms for the first year. After that it's apartment living which is really nice. The food isn't the best, (especially for vegetarians…) but it isn't as bad as other places. For the most part things are kept clean and calories are listed in some areas. The gym is also excellent and provides many group exercise classes.

The academics so far have been excellent. I know many students who didn't find this, but really those students were the ones who didn't want to put the effort into their studies. Rowan requires two semesters of college composition that really sucks to take because it isn't fun or interesting but because of this course I know I now know how to construct much better papers. The courses in my major I am just starting to dive into and even though it's early they are very, very good courses. I am being pushed to really reach to be a perfectionist in my area which I feel is important.

Clubs at Rowan aren't as popular with the student body but are still present. Most clubs are pretty casual about attendance so it's no big deal if you miss some meetings. Although they aren't the most popular things they are still a lot of fun and a good way to meet people. There are clubs for everything and if you don't see something you can easily start a club.

Partying is part of the college experience whether or not you partake. There are ALWAYS parties during the weekend but the campus also tries hard to host activities to attract students away from parties as well as entertain students who aren't interested.

Glassboro is a disgusting town and the people who live in it don't really seem to like Rowan. This is kind of funny since they would have NOTHING without the University but even the town is starting to get cleaned up. There are always a lot of cops making sure everything is A-OK and the Rowan Boulevard project will replace a lot of the dirty disgusting surrounding area of Glassboro.

My freshman experience was interesting. Like any other student at any school first semester was an adjusting period and I didn't fall into my comfortable place until second semester. Freshman orientation is a miserable experience. There were very few redeeming factors to it. Anyone expecting to go to Rowan should be warned and my only advice is you will get through it…

Rowan really is a good school and easily overlooked. The school is only now starting to get more recognition for how good it is and it's getting better every year. We are starting to climb in the rankings and I do suggest it.
