Lehigh essentially turned me into a blackout machine. I went into college thinking that I would just find other things to do besides drinking, but Lehigh University does not foster this way of thinking. I was the kind of kid in high school who would just show up at music concerts or any kind of big public event, and I would meet people there. Don't come to Lehigh if you are like me. THE ONLY THING TO DO HERE IS DRINK. I made a huge moral sacrifice, and although I appear happy on the outside and have friends, I hate the environment that Lehigh creates. I almost joined a frat but decided not to during rush when I saw how much coke they blew and weed they smoked. Very unhealthy lifestyle. Luckily I was able to make a couple of friends who felt the same way as I did, so socially I am keeping my sanity.

That's basically the one thing I would change about Lehigh: the social environment. On a positive note, the faculty and professors are fantastic. Regardless of what other students say, if you just show up and ask for help from a faculty member, they will work extremely hard to help you out. Academic quality has been good to great so far. Most business classes are taught very thoroughly and they genuinely prepare you for real-world problems.

The sports teams in general are very good, but for some reason people do not like to go to any of the games. There is somewhat of a lack of school spirit here at Lehigh. Perfect example, someone had the balls to write an article in the Brown & White about how the basketball team was in 1st place at the time (and went on to win the Patriot League and make NCAA tourney), and the team had the lowest attendance out of anyone in the Patriot League. I feel bad for those guys. For non-athletes, there is a lot to do athletic-wise after classes. I sometimes go to Taylor Gym and play pickup basketball or lax with my buddies outside, which is fun.

Overall, there are good things and bad things about this school. This review is focused a lot on the negative things, and I apologize for that. I feel the administration is heading in the right direction, but most of the negative feelings I have about this university can be traced back to the attitude of the student body. They are all very smart people, but I feel that a lot of them are so spoiled and used to having their way all the time so they don't get involved in anything on campus and only care about hooking up with girls and drinking/drugs. I am glad I was exposed to these kinds of people in college, because apparently these are the kind of people you will have to deal with later in life anyways. This university is on the way to becoming a success, but I think the administration really needs to make Lehigh a more happening and less alcoholic place.
