Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
Miami was the best four years of my life. I made lifelong friends and received a first-rate education. I recently gained admission to one of the top PhD programs in Experimental Psychology, and I attribute a large degree of my success to the Miami coursework and professors. If it were not for the recommendations I received, the research experience I was able to acquire, and the facilities that afforded me the opportunity to explore my research interests, I would not have encountered the successes I did while applying to graduate schools. Also, amongst the academic community, from schools ranging from Texas to Connecticut, Miami University is regarded as a highly reputable institution. If you make the effort to get to know your professors, which is not too difficult given the fact that most are very approachable, and explore the opportunities that Miami has to offer, you can be successful in whatever endeavor you choose.Regarding the social scene and Miami student ethos, it follows a "work hard, play hard" attitude. Yes, people go out on the weekends and party. This is part of the college experience, and you have a very narrow window in your life when you can live this lifestyle. If you are anti-social and don't like people having a good time, Miami probably isn't right for you. Also, if a you have a problem with the greek system , Miami probably isn't for you either. However, if you are able to balance a social life and school, and are seeking a great education with ample opportunities to learn from some of the best and brightest, Miami is definitely for you.
