Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
This school is a major disappointment. It likes to pose as a major league institution, but the faculty is mediocre, and the student body arrogant, self-important, and condescending. Most of the students are major school wannabe's who simply couldn't get admitted, or local Wisconsin residents who go here because it is the "lead" state school. Faculty couldn't care less, are unavailable, and nobody's in the field. The state residents and legislature won't support the school financially any longer, forcing it to act more like a private school, and the PR campaigns about it's academic standing are just that - feel-good PR designed to gin up the alumni contributions. For an undergraduate business education, PLEASE do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Responses
responseSo when did you get rejected from UW?? Your comments are complete nonsense and untrue in every regard.
responseI graduated from UW Madison in 2009, and I'd have to agree almost 100% with these comments. Not a good choice if you are looking for anything more than a drinking school. Faculty comments are right on.
responseFaculty are not leaders in their field??? Is that why they get among the top 2 in competitive research grants in the USA and are in the top 10 in published research in 70 fields? Social life F and ECs F? Not even remotely close. There are more ECs and a better social scene than just about any school in the country. Absurd comments.
responseHow much is UW paying you to troll these sites and add the usual UW rose-colored glasses spin? I've spent time here, and the professors are indifferent and unavailable for undergrads - ALWAYS. And relatively few are of any note in their fields given the overall faculty size. Social life is fabulous - if your a drunk or a heavy pot smoker - not so great for anyone else. Get serious - for an undergrad education and for a decent undergrad educational experience, go elsewhere. Most anyplace is better than this dump. Overrated by a factor of at least 100%.
responseYou don't win a in research grants with relatively few top people. Your attitude is obviously one of a loser who blames the outside forces for his misery. What unfounded bullcrap. 90% of UW grads would do it again and were very happy with their education. I'm not sure what your problems are but I advise therapy.
responsePaid troll, or the truth just hurts to much to bear.
responseIf only. I am a 2 degree UW alumnus and work far from Madison in investments. I donate fairly large amounts to UW so I'm the opposite of a paid troll. But you are just a poor troll.
responseThe author's comments are, in fact, true in every regard. I had exactly the same experience and transferred away after two miserable years at Madison (with a 4.0 as honors biochem/math major so I was more than qualified for this extremely overrated school)
responseUW students give it top rating on Ratemyprofessor.com
responseUW students are simply boorish and conceited. You won't find many that will tell you otherwise. Undergrads are well advised to go elsewhere. Any academic reputation the school has is based on research activity available only to grad students. Undergrads get screwed in a school that does not want to be known as a teaching institution and gives it little effort or encouragement. And a note to parents - the campus area is not safe for students of either gender, and the alcohol and drug use is extensive.
