If you intend to pursue a whatsoever intellectually stimulating education, run as far away from USC as you possibly can. Each intro class I have taken has been, far and away, the worst academic experience of my life. There were errors made on each test, countless errors on the homework answer key, and errors made in the grading of each test. The tests were not whatsoever relevant to the material taught in class, and one teacher even directly advised the class not to use the class textbook. There is no communication between the administration and the students, and the teachers have free reign to do whatever they want. Aside from the administrative and procedural failures, the teachers are essentially useless. Anything that I have learned since I have been here has been straight out of the books, which were not relevant to the courses at all. Even classes in the Thematic Option program have been mediocre at best. My first semester TO teacher, the HEAD of UNDERGRADUATE ENGLISH, consistently spelled two to three syllable words wrong. And to compensate for their academic incompetence, the school deflates grades to make the school seem more challenging. There's a reason USC isn't traditionally respected as a truly academic university. It was, is, and always will be a monetarily based party university fueled by its sports, and with enough money to pay its way into a decent national ranking. USC is a business, not a school.
