Date: Apr 30 2010 Major: Public Policy (This Major's Salary over time) St. Louis is a great city to study in, especially if you are interested in the social sciences. It is also a place where you can stand out pretty easily and start your own venture, if you desire. The cost of living is extremely affordable and the historic neighborhoods are gorgeous. At SLU, the professors are amazing, the students are a bit conservative—but overall, pretty friendly (changes each year, of course). The school is committed to public service and social justice, but the administration is many time out of step with both the students and the professors. Hopefully that is changing. I was the first in my family to go to college and because of SLU I decided to go on for a master's degree. Most of my classmates are doing the same. Good luck!
