I have a 4.0 GPA at NJIT and I am sorry to say that regardless of my successes there, this is a horrendous place to get your education. This school is intended for whites and people from India to somehow "improve" the quality of downtown Newark. However, there is crime on campus including rape, assault and theft—the Greek life is horrible. Send your child to live in a broken down fire hazard shack, just because you save money?? You will be left crying when your daughter doesn't make it out of this awful place. Walk to school from the "convenient train commute"—yes, you can walk right by the shelter and the good will where 5 large black men lick their lips and solicit you. Take the Chen bus? The one that doesn't come because the "security officers" are sleeping behind the train station? Or try to speak to your instructors during their "office hours" when no one on the English department speaks English correctly (or can write for that matter) and can't seem to show up for their own appointments! This school doesn't run like a business. In fact, nothing here makes sense. The math teachers don't know what will be on the exams and they don't cover all the material you will be tested on. Nobody shows up for classes here and the teachers just spend all their time yelling at the students about Newark politics and how they are all on probation for misconduct, but it's really all the students' fault… yadda yadda. This is what you pay 2500 / class to hear about. Newark ghetto politics. They don't have enough teachers and the classes required are hideous. You will be required to learn "digital poetry" from a burn-out professor who is in control of your entire future at this institution, just because he wouldn't be able to get a job anywhere else. Come on, "Doctor of Digital Poetry"???? Give the world a break and don't send your children to this place just because it is cheap. Go a little a deeper!!
