You say it's only 10 minutes to Denver. I've read that the public transportation system is really bad. How would you recommend to travel? And where to live, to most conveniently be able to move around? |
Public transportation isn't that bad; the new light rail line will be in Golden soon. At any rate you'll be able to find someone who has a car. Living in one of the campus's apartments is convenient and there are tons of apartments for rent all around the school at a reasonable price. |
…going to this school basically guarantees you …placement in graduate school. Isn't that pretty much setting the bar at ground level? |
Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred in to this school and was expecting a challenge, but I got more than that! This school is tough. I was used to getting straight A's / A+'s at my other college and it's not the case here. You actually have to study and you basically never have free time. That's not to say you can't find time to hang out with friends or go skiing, you just have to balance your schedule. You definitely can't slack off here.A lot of kids complain about there being nothing to do but I don't think that's true at all. You just have to get out there and find kids who like doing stuff, not just sit in their room and study or play video games. Denver is 10 minutes away and Golden and the surrounding mountains offer endless outdoor activities. One thing that everyone will notice when they come here is the lack of girls. The ratio is evening out, but it is noticeable.I would never choose a different school than the School of Mines. I love it here, I'm actually being challenged and going to this school basically guarantees you a job or placement in graduate school.
