I went to YCP for one semester before packing up and getting out. ALOT of things are wrong with York and I always try my best to dissuade people from going! I was social before attending YCP but never hardcore partied or anything—at York, that's all there is to do and all ANYONE CARES to do, the city is an absolute barren ghetto, there is one street (jackson) where all the frats are and everyone spends literally all of their time outside the classroom—weekends on average start on wednesday night and end sunday night, drinking/weed etc nonstop. I went there nearly three years ago and have stopped through the city a few times and could not believe I once walked those streets alone at night!! Public safety is not helpful on campus at all—everyone in dorms is playing their music on triple bass and having sex, drinking, smoking cigs and weed in their rooms (probably why the fire alarms went off all the time), and if you call public safety in, they'll knock on the door and leave. Personally I was having a great time until about a month into the semester, the students are absolutely heinous and it still haunts me to this day. Every morning I would wake up with profanity written on my door, demeaning post-its taped onto my board, anonymous facebook msgs/emails and prank calls all the time and girls banging on my door and screaming in the middle of the night and evening breaking into my room and saying horrible things. I wasn't planning on coming back my sophomore year, but came back from winter break freshman year and packed up my stuff; somehow my number had circulated and I was getting threatening phone calls from the girls in my dorm saying I was going to get "f***ed up" when I came back to York, so my parents called the police and contacted their parents and took me home. The faculty was not at all supportive about that or any time i was attending the school, very self-absorbed and careless (EXCEPT Wayne Romer in the music department!). If it has any affect at all, my roommate packed up and left one week after I did following a socially endused nervous breakdown, and the only friend I have kept up with is miserable he is still there. In short—don't go here. Please.
