Peabody is now #1 in the country (US News, 2010). Perhaps the undergrad classes are easy, but the research, including educational policy, is second to none. |
Major: PreMed and Medical (This Major's Salary over time)
A lot of students here are extremely wealthy, and it will become apparent to you after a short time. If you develop an inferiority complex if people seem to have more money than you, look elsewhere. I don't, and the fact that some people are enjoying more luxurious lives doesn't affect me. It shouldn't affect you either.Greek life is a big part of the university but there is definitely an initiative to down play it as time goes on. There are many clubs around campus to join but Greek life overshadows them at times. I'm greek but I'm also part of 3 other clubs; there's plenty to do on campus, but you'll need to seek it first.Academics are challenging here at Vandy. Naturally, there are some "easy" majors and programs that can be found throughout the university, particularly at the Peabody school. It's important to note that while this school has a reputation for being "easy", it's still ranked #5 in the nation for education. The campus is gorgeous. Buildings are maintained very well and the maintenance crews in the dorms are quick to react. However, students are sometimes slow to report problems and instead complain until management notices the problem themselves. Vanderbilt is slowly renovating all of the buildings on campus and it is obvious (especially in the science buildings) that some buildings will need attention in coming years. The freshman dorms are great, but its truly sad if you're stuck in Kissam. They made some very important repairs to Kissam but its still a small and gloomy place to live.If you have the money/get enough financial aid, Vandy is a great place to be.
