Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I came all the way across the country to go to Virginia Tech, because it's a family school, and there is not a day that goes by where I regret that decision. It was a little difficult adjusting at first, but after the first three or four weeks freshman year, I loved it here. The campus is laid out very nicely, and all the buildings have the same stone facade, creating a very cohesive look.Classes are very good, though not as challenging as I think they could be. You definitely learn a lot in the Biology program, but I think that critical thinking could be fostered a little bit more.Social life is VERY strong around here, with parties every night of the weekend, and often into the week. Downtown is usually populated every night and downright crowded (difficult to walk around inside the bars) on the weekends. If you want something to do, you'll find it.Blacksburg is a pretty small town, so there aren't all the opportunities you'd find in a big city, but we're close enough to Roanoke, which is big enough, or even Washington D.C. if you're desperate. But the surrounding area is beautiful if you're into the outdoors like hiking, mountain biking etc.All in all after four years here, I love it, and I would never have chosen any place different. Go Hokies!
