The employees of this school make it out to be such a highly ranked school. My senior year I even heard one prof. refer to it as the "MIT of the midwest." That's ridiculous. The school is good. But there are higher ranked schools for engineering than it, in the midwest. Kettering and Rose Hulman for example, are both ranked higher. Kettering being in Michigan and Rose Hulman in Indiana. This school is only recognized in WI, if your lucky. There is nothing special about it. Since I have been out, the only thing it has helped me with is stress, having to go through all that, I can perform much better than my counterparts. The education is normal, a few profs make a difference, but to ABET accredited all schools have to live up to the standards. It's not hands above the rest. The party life is WAY below standard. If you're looking for a balanced college life, this is def. not it. Being in downtown and close to 2 other schools helps, but if this were in the middle of nowhere, it would be one of the most dead college campuses around. People here are introverted. You really have to go out of your way to meet people. The overall attitude here is go here to get a good job and make lots of money, while never living a life. My suggestion would to be go anywhere else, where there is life outside the books, someone always knows where there is a party, and just because you're "downtown" it isn't considered something to do. Just be careful that there is a balance kept, i have seen people fail out because all they want to do is party, others i have seen stay in there room for hours on end and study, don't be that guy either, life is too short. Engineers are in too much demand to waste time here.
