Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
MSOE places the primary focus on success in classes. If you are willing to place school over work and friends you will be rewarded with both a good paying job and job security. Many of the area companies I have talked to prefer to hire from MSOE. Opportunities include jobs from Harley Davidson and Bucyrus among other international corporations. Social life is questionable at best, MSOE is in Beer town but if you indulge during the week you will not pass your classes. If you are fixed on the idea of a 4.0, you should look at other options, if you are in the pursuit of knowledge, MSOE is an option for you. My biggest complaint has to be on campus housing. The prices are unacceptably high (apartments can be found for 1/2 the price of a double room the size of a large closet), participation in the food program is required and the food is only a small step above poison, and the rules come straight out of the 1950s (no opposite sex over night, pre-approved guests otherwise). The campus shuts down at 11:00 pm, this can be a problem if your homework is not finished (and I assure you, your homework is rarely finished before 11:00)
