Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
Hey.

I'm actually not yet attending NU, but I will be there next year as a Finance major. I have talked to SOOO many current students there that I could probably give a decent presentation on the overall outlook of the school.

First of all, the school is gaining more and more recognition every year (believe me I've followed it for a couple years). I'm from Seattle, and just from what I read about the school I knew I wanted to go there, and once I visited, it was a for sure thing. It really is a campus within a city, a rare find.

The school was recently rated the 2nd safest school in the country by Readers Digest, which is a surprise because its in the city.

The Co-op is usually the main draw to this school, as it should be. I have a friend who is a sophomore there, and he is getting $500 per week at HIS FIRST CO-OP. Granted, he is a business major, which is supposedly the best co-op (along with engineering and criminal justice).

I've visited three times, went to the

Early Action Welcome Days
in the winter, and also visited in the summer, so I got to see both exremes. It was snowing hard in the winter, but the city knows how to handle its snow so it wasn't annoying whatsoever. The summer is pretty humid, but it feels great after bearing the winter there. I'm looking forward to the extreme weather actually, rather than the constant rain in Seattle.

I really do know a lot about the school its rankings, what students say, the best freshman dorms, etc. So respond to this if you want to know more.

CHOOSE NU!

questionWhat is the social life like? Are the people at Northeastern the type that likes to have fun and party or more of the nerdy type? Basically is it a fun school?
questionYou said that it was a campus in the city. Well I want to go there too, but I can't find any good photos or virtual tours of the campus that could really influence my choice. Do you have any advice?
questionHeyy Im VERY interested in going to NU and you really seem to know the inside scoop. I was wondering what freshman dorms were the best. Also Im hoping to major in Advertising, do you have any idea how reputable their advertising and/or communications majors are?

Thanks for the help!

questionI'm going to be transfering fall09' is it that hard to get into bc I have heard both sides. What was your Gpa?
questionHi! I am from Seattle as well and I have applied to NEU. I have some questions. What do you think of the school so far? (I have a several questions but you can start with that one.) My email is _email_removed_ Thank yoU!
response1) You can definitely find an even balance between people who want to party and people who are nerdy and play lots of video games, sometimes you are even lucky enough to find a happy medium. As in most college situations, you are going to attract friends to yourself that are most like you. Personally, I look back on my college experience as being very fun.

2)
This is the geotagged results for Flickr, search for boston and then those tagged Northeastern University—it gives you a pretty good idea of what the campus looks like, there's also google street view.

3) I personally lived in Melvin Hall as a freshman and though the rooms were small I liked it a lot better—4 individual bathrooms were shared between the floor—we didn't have mass bathrooms of grossness, we also had carpeted floors. Kerr is similar in nice-ness and space. If you're really looking for a good community experience sign up for an LLC—they tend to be in Melvin. Also, I have to warn you that Advertising is not an offered Major at Northeastern and in fact I want to do advertising, but will likely have to go to a portfolio / grad school to do so.

I can't answer questions 5 and 6 as I am not the original poster of this review, but I did post one of the other reviews. I feel that each question garners a response.

questionWhere did you go to high school in seattle? i am also from seattle, thinking of transferring to NU how was the transition?
