Geneseo not only has a great reputation for great professor and students, it is also a social networking dream. It is so easy to join a club, sports team, greek organization and get to know people and network. You know that you are meeting intelligent people because it is not easy to get into Geneseo. It is nearly impossible to walk across campus and not several people that you know very well.

There are so many social events to attend and you know basically everyone when you go out and that makes for a fun night most of the time.

Since almost everyone is from New York State, it also makes it much easier to keep in contact with friends once you have graduated or even on breaks from school. I have traveled a decent amount for my job and have found it very easy to meet up with friends and alumni from college all over New York, which can be a big plus when you are in a random place for a week or two and are able to meet up with some friends, which otherwise would make for a rather boring time once you are out of work for the day.

I have had some professors at Geneseo that have had a profound impact on my life, and others that have had none whatsoever, but I think that is normal with most educational experiences. The college definately has some exceptional professors that know their stuff, and many of them have real world experience, and are able to relate the subjects to actual decisions the professor made in their career, alowing the student to relate to the material more easily. I personally excelled in almost all of the classes that were in my major, but due to lack of interest and/or motivation, I did not perform as well in non-major required classes, which Geneseo does have quite a few of. In hind sight, I do appreciate some of these courses becuase it is good to put yourself in situations where you are outside of your comfort zone, becuase you will most likely be put in this situation at several points in your career.

Geneseo has helped me significantly in developing towards the "real world," for me the business world. To be successful in most businesses, you need to be willing to work hard, apply new technology and concepts, but you also need to be able to speak with people, make them comfortable, and they need to like you, and want to do business with you. My education at Geneseo has definately taught me to appreciate a good work ethic, and the curriculum at Geneseo definately demands one, but I would say that the most important thing that I learned at Geneseo was the ability to network with successful people and how it increased my confidence in my own abilities. Geneseo has given me some of the most amazing experiences in my life so far as well as some of the best friendships that I am sure I will ever have and still have.
