I am about to finish my first year at GW studying in the Elliot school of International Affairs and I love it. GW is a great school, I feel that it is extremely underrated.

Academics- The school is very selective and has the lowest acceptance rate of any school even close to its ranking, one of the many reasons I think it is underrated. But GW is very challenging academically, I get more work then my friends at Cornell and UMich, but the work is all very relevant. Also, being in DC, the internships are amazing. No matter what you want to do, there is an internship in DC you can do.

Campus- Even though we do not have a traditional campus, you know when you are on the GW campus and when you are not. Unlike other city schools (BU, NYU) GW has a very defined urban campus, for about 16 blocks, almost everything is GW.

Dorms-One of the best parts of GW, the dorms are absoutely beautiful, most kids do not live off campus because of this.

Students- There are a lot of rich students here, but even the richest kids are usually very interested in politics and will have a discussion about international relations. I think people here are very smart and many discussions involve politics or international relations.

Nightlife- Most people go to frats or go clubbing, the university is trying to increase greek life, but it is still not very big. It is not a big drinking school, but people do drink on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays

All in all, I would not want to be at any other school, I think GW is very underrated and many people are turned off by the price, even though Gw matches 90% of need based aid.
