First and foremost, the strengths of this school is if you enter the strength of the school, which is LAW, Business, Accounting, communications and film and music majors. The other majors varies.

The bad of this school is pretty much everything about housing and more-over the surrounding area is just plain scary. This is a different story if you have a car and make some friends. IF you have a car, you CAN have a good time, there are places a few minutes away to maybe twenty minutes away like the famous Roosevelt Field mall and fill your shopping needs. There are huge department stores closeby IF you have a car. Well they're not closeby, but they're less than half an hour away if the traffic is good. Listen I don't even have a car, but this is what I've seen when I've been in my friend's car.

If you don't have a car. Even if you have a bike like me, you will find this place really does "suck". Everyone likes to go to this nasty bar called "Dizzy Lizards" and honestly it's a true ghetto right outside of campus. Obviously you won't get shot, if you walk with a group of friends you're fine. It's not a TRUE ghetto, but it sure as hell doesn't look appealing and safe. There aren't places close to campus. Unless you plan to live on campus and go from there, you won't find much to do unless you really subdue yourself into activities and frats and sororities, but really college isn't cooked up to be like in the movies in general.

You will find some small minded people. And you will also find very cool people too. You will find a range of smart people to dumb people. There are lots of spoiled kids here, and there are also a lot of cool kids, and also smart people too. It really depends who you meet.

But as far as the campus goes leaving aside the people. The academics is pretty okay. I've had my fair share of challenge in business classes. I've heard stories of the administration screwing up people's major and finding they didn't take the right credits due to poor advice from the Advisors from the very Hofstra University.

Services are quite limited just like in any other school. Honestly I hated my first year here and it was the worst ever. I grew out of the whole expectations from college and would still like to transfer out. The weather conditions as you might expect up state can get quite cold, but mainly it's just damn windy! And don't underestimate that fact when there are chill factors you can't handle blowing at your face and through your clothes.

Aside from weather. If you decide to get into business, then this is the school for you. If you wanna be a person doing someone's bitchwork booking payables and receivables and in it for the money, they have people who come here looking for interns in communications and business oriented majors.

Anything else you will have to research on your own.

Again I will say you can meet some smart and cool people here, you will find these people who are active in clubs and such. But as far as social life goes, you gotta meet people on your own, thats just the way it is.

By the way housing blows, the Residential Life programs like to F with you, and put you in a force triple. I was in a force triple last year my freshman year, that is, you are put in a Double room, and they put one more person in there along with the rest of the furniture for one more person, it's like living in a jail cell.

They're finally taking out their so called "on-campus housing" Twin Oaks which is actually right in the ghetto outside of campus, I know because I bike from Twin Oaks. You really have to register early to get what you want. But no promises for a nice space.

Dorms are average if you get lucky getting a decent room. But people have been screwed. And honestly, you never hear the end of it from anybody if you ever ask them about the housing here.

Education… You have to do your research at ratemyprofessor.com and you will get a good professor if you read the reviews and made an informed decision. There are good professors and there are some bad ones. If classes fill up fast for a professor, it doesn't always mean he/she was good, a lot of people just take a class to fill a pre-requisite.

A lot of things here I had to learn on my own, so be prepared. Hofstra is an okay place if you don't mind the crappy weather and shitty surrounding place and very career oriented particularly in business, but anything else is kind of something you have to find on your own.

I leave you with one note. Don't go to this school if you have any better choices of colleges that accepted you. Meaning look at other reviews and good ratings. I actually met my girlfriend here, and I met her at a school club and we happened to have the same class together as well. She is very sweet and I love her.

This doesn't make this school great. But I can't change the past so I just make what I can out of this school. My girlfriend made Hofstra a better experience.

But honestly, hooking up here isn't easy either. Trust me I've went down the whole pick up artist path and tried to pick up girls. Girls here aren't stupid, if they are, they are for a reason that they are loose. But college isn't the place for relationships for a lot of people here, people just wanna get F'ed up or want to delve into academia. Not bad. Again it's kind of all luck what you find here. Ha ha, roll a dice.

It's all luck here. Take your chances lol. That's all I have to say. I lucked out meeting someone really nice here. But not everyone is nice. And not everyone is looking for people either. Actually most people here don't even want to be in a relationship. It may be wise, but if you're looking for a person who is faithful or care for you as an individual, it's really all luck.

If you want to look at statistics, a lot of people here, I'll say again, are spoiled.

If you like hot girls, yes there are plenty here, but don't expect them to be nice people. Granted most people here are just. But there are also a lot of people who like to flash their Victoria secret pants and dolce and gabanna sun shades. A lot of fake people here.

All in all, if you're here at hofstra, yes there are pretty girls, but honestly what is that going to do for you? A lot of them won't give you a chance. That's besides the point because that's not what college is a about. I went in thinking that way and I realize it's not what it is.

Don't come here thinking people are easy. Nobody is easy anywhere.

Hofstra is a place for spoiled kids with C grades judging by the amount of work expected from the student. It also depends what class you're taking. Some can give ridiculous workloads.

People here also over exaggerate.

But I do not over exaggerate this point that Hofstra doesn't fullfill the college experience if you're thinking of an awesome place to be where everything is at your fingertips. We're talking about the surrounding town.
