ERAU Prescott is not a bad University. I came in wanting to fly, soon enough I figured out that I did not want a degree that was limiting. In short I thought I was sure of what I wanted out of a degree, I ended up wanting to do something more broad. ERAU does not have any General degrees, so if you're unsure at all about the degree selection here DO NOT COME. ERAU is top-notch in the fields of study it offers, thus it is very challenging and cutthroat in some areas. Engineers plan on doing A LOT of work. GSIS not so much, a few professors give some b.s. writing assignments but otherwise it's not to hard. Pilots, you will know soon enough if you really want to fly.

ERAU does not like to advertise the attrition rate, you either succeed or you're going to wash out. AFROTC is big on campus. The cadre consists of some very great and bright people, as well as many tool bags.

Socially Riddle is terrible. Greek life has its moments. For the most part the few fraternities and sororities on campus are a joke. With few other social opportunities going Greek is a great decision. It is not a typical greek system like bigger colleges. The surrounding town has little to offer. It consists of mostly old people, very few college aged persons. The male to female ratio is horrible, you will see some "decent" girls get treated like super models. Many girls quickly get passed around and STD laden. Average girls will quickly become overconfident, stuck up, and snooty. Most guys will get "Riddle Vision" and their standards will fall off a cliff. A good portion of riddle students are nerdy never leave the dorm types. It is in some sense a school for "nerds." Don't come here to party, you won't find to much here anyways. Greek parties are about all there is, most of those parties are very exclusive.

I hate to say it but 3/4's of the student body is extremely self-interested and arrogant. It's not confined to any one major really, Riddle seems to nurture people with the attitude of

my shit don't stink.
Many of the flight instructors and members of the flight dept. are egomaniacs. If you can't tolerate arrogant pricks don't come here.

A lot of the faculty is very helpful and friendly. There are a few bad apples. Otherwise the faculty will go out of their way to help you. I can't really speak for much of the Engineering dept's professors, I did not major in Engineering.

My decision to transfer out was based on the fact that I discovered I did not want a career in what my highly specialized major was setting me up for. If you're unsure, or don't have a real reason to come here DON'T. Riddle is good if you REALLY want to do what the majors here set you up for. If you do want to transfer out be prepared for a good amount of your credits not transferring. It works the same way when transferring in, Riddle wants your money. If you are seeking a more broad, traditional college experience look elsewhere. If you know for a fact that you want a career in one of the major fields of study Riddle might be the place for you. Tough it out, get in and get out. Just remember that Embry Riddle is a highly artificial environment that does not closely resemble the real world. If you love your major you will love it here, otherwise it will be a very unforgiving environment.
