The point of this comment is not to discourage future students, but rather to educate them. I have attended the University of Washington for 1 year. Throughout the course of a year, more of my classes have been taught by T.A.s and student-teachers rather than actual professors. These teachers are not always just, they can be bias and grade in a manner that is not appreciated. Being a out-of-state student, I pay more tuition than a Washington resident (about $20,000+). It is bothersome to pay such an absorbant amount when I am being taught by T.A.s. My advise being, if you want Professors teaching your classes do not go to UW. Also, if you are an out-of-state student, do not go to UW unless you are going into the medical field. It's a lot of money to be spent on T.A.s especially if they don't show up to class (which has been an incident in the music department wherein the T.A. did not suffer any repercussions). The social life is alright, if you care to spend your time being drooled on by drunken frat boys.
