The State University of New York College - Geneseo

Chose Geneseo over Brown, Northwestern, and U.Rochester. Want to goto medical school, didnt want to be encumbered by loans before entering med school. Geneseo has all the research, volunteer, and club opportunities one can ask for. The student body is filled with bright, articulate, and motivated students, but as with any public school, you will wonder every now and then how some of these kids got in(Apparently acceptance rate is now below 30% and average sat is 1320 so watch out). I dont think i missed out on anything by turning down the upper tier colleges, but there will always be some lingering doubt untill i apply and get accepted to medical school. I KNOW i did the right thing by turning down U.Rochester, … in terms of educational quality/rigor/name recognition, Geneseo is all that UR is at a reduced price. I think the school is a few years away from contending with UVA/Berkeley/UMich as a viable alternative to IVY league school, but we will be there soon, the students are just too talented. As of right now, the school is every bit the cheap and viable alternative to NYU/Brandeis/Vanderbilt caliber schools. Geneseo is not the "SUNY Honors college" because there is currently no such distiction. From all that ive gathered, if you are going to go SUNY, Geneseo is the only place to go. Binghamton is falling farther and farther behind while Stony brook is something of a rising star, but years away from being where they want to be. Oh yeah, social life is great.
