Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a Materials Science major.I have to be honest, some people don't enjoy Hopkins. That doesn't mean Hopkins isn't great, it simply means that Hopkins wasn't the right school for that person. Johns Hopkins attracts a lot of strong personalities in the Engineering school…i.e. people who sometimes don't have all the social graces but will be the movers and shakers of tomorrow. The majority of engineering students take immense pride in their work (even the smallest actions), and are driven not just to get a diploma but to make something of themselves and the world. If you feel you understand and agree with the motto (Veritas vos liberabit, the truth shall set you free), coming here may be the best decision of your life. Be prepared to work—hard. But this isn't any busy work…I I never took such pride in my work until I was presented with challenging projects that actually mattered! Don't come for the name, although it does have it's perks. And well, don't come for the social life (although I must say, if Hopkins is truly right for you, you'll find better friends here than anywhere else). But come to Hopkins for the person you'll be when you walk at graduation. This is an amazing school and, while it's not for everyone, it's not to be missed for the right few.
