I feel that USC does a really good job of taking care of you and treating you like an individual. I was really lucky my first semester as all of my teachers are really good and caring. I recommend checking out senatcourseguide.com before you register. This is a USC teacher review website. Other students' classes and teachers are not very interesting/approchable.

If you're an athlete, they treat you like gold! Prefered registration, a special cafeteria, a study center, counselling, toutoring, etc.

The problem I have with USC is that it is in a terrible location. Don't let "downtown LA" fool you! USC has a pretty campus, for sure, but it is like living in a park in the middle of a really dangerous and very dirty/ugly area. The public transport is ok, but I don't really like LA. Unless you have a car, there isn't much to do around here and no one really hangs out on campus or around campus, they all go off into the city. The frat scene is huge and Football is a cult, but you can find other people if you're not into that. A lot of kids are the typical snobby, sorority and fraternity kids, but they aren't unfriendly, just boring.

The school brags about diversity and it should. It is ETHNICALLY diverse, but mentally, rather uniform. Well, at least the majority is.

If you are a gay MAN then great! There are tons of gay guys, not so much gay girls…

I thought I wanted to do Communications as a major, but found that it was not a very high level of learning. I memorized the notes and did well, but didn't really engage in the material. It was mostly putting names to things you already know. On the other hand, my Gender Studies (General Education) class was really interesting and engaging, but most of the students in it were takign it because they had to, not because they wanted to, so they weren't really engaged.

A lot of people I know were disappointed with the school because they had built it up in their heads. I am considering transferrring because I don't really like LA and I don't like the atmosphere around the school.
