I was just wondering which school you decided to transfer to. I am currently in the process of trying to transfer and it would be great to hear from someone else who has gone through the same thing. |
Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I came to UW as an out-of-state student. When I visited I thought the campus was one of the most beautiful places I has ever been, and it was during the Spring. I decided to go there because it was ranked very highly and I liked the city, but I now regret this decision. Academically, classes at UW are a joke. No one goes to lecture, everyone goes to study session because that is where you actually do the learning. UW seems to know this by having you spend 6 hours a week with TA's instead of 3 which is standard. It is just impossible to educate 42,000 people in one institution. Socially, the greek system for me at least was overrated. The only real reason to join is to meet sorority girls there. Make sure you know the house you are joining and is you want to put up with hazing. They put on a very good face during rush but things fall apart after. Also, since UW is a commuter school most kids go home on the weekends and the greek system is dead, so all social life takes place mon-fri. If you are from Washington then I can see why you would go to UW, but for out-of-state students it is not 30,000 a year. I will be transferring to a school with smaller classes (they actually matter) and better parties.
