U of I is awesome. It is a huge school. You can make a lot of Chicago connections here. If you are in state, I would go here over any other state school (like other Big 10) and save the tuition money for grad school. There is always plenty to do, and if you make the effort, you can get sort of close to your professors. If you need a big city, Chicago is 3 hours away. The Greek system is big, and you can find a place for yourself there. Big 10 Sports are the best. The girls are pretty. The campus is pretty, but the surrounding areas are not. Geographically, Illinois is flat!

As I look back on my U of I experience, it was pretty good. I was an Air Force Academy drop out(college athlete), and could have gone to the Ivies after high school. I wound up at Illinois. I met my wife, and had a really good time. I learned a lot, and found a true love for Marketing and Economics. I originally was an Accounting major. If you want Engineering, there is no better place for you.

Since my first job, I have been self employed. I have served on a corporate Board of Directors for an NYSE listed firm. I went on to grad school (University of Chicago) and so far have had a pretty good life.

The key to U of I is that YOU have to make it work for YOU.
