Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
Graduating from Mines was an important goal for me, as I grew up in Colorado, and was interested in geology from an early age, and knew that the school offered a solid education in the geosciences. Because it was a school with a great reputation, I easily found a job before I graduated. I was quite surprised by how easy my job was compared to the school work I had endured, and found that I needed to learn to develop a social life and outside interests—something that I definitely lacked at CSM. It took time, but eventually I found that balanced life, and the education I received at Mines has proven to be a good and wise investment. I want to emphasize that the technical education with regard to math and physics (my major was geophysical engineering) allowed me to be a technical lead in nearly every project that I have worked on since graduation. I would recommend Mines to anyone who isn't afraid to challenge themselves and really learn things that are important to understanding the world we live in.
