Date: Aug 08 2005 Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time) UW-Madison is no longer what is once was. Budget cuts create the illusion that UW-Madison is elite because it's a tough place to get into. The reality is they can't handle the number of students here anymore. Enrollment is down. School is badly in need of infrastructure improvements it can't afford and it's largely living on it's storied past. Claims of diversity should be closely investigated by walking around town, it is still mostly attended by Wisconsin kids with virtually no past exposure to people of other color-cultures. I'm afraid that while UW-Madison now enjoys a solid athletic reputation, it's academic reputation is quietly but most surely, slipping. Don't necessarily confuse admission selectivity with quality of education here.
