Honestly, Villanova was my last choice, but I got the most money from this school, so I went with a heavy heart. BY Christmas, I was telling everyone that I loved the school and couldn't imagine going anywhere else! Of course, I am white, middle/upper class, and from a catholic background. I live in the CT country, not quite suburban, and I was looking for a school with little diversity and a conservative setting and administration. From my first look at Nova, on a tour, I could tell there would be minimal diversity - we only saw 7 black students in the two hours we were there. Anyone would be blind not to notice that. But that's what I wanted. And because the priests are of the Augustinian order, they are more conservative than the jesuits - which would be difficult to see, because the school is trying to be more liberal, much to the dismay of many students, parents, and alumni. I'm not in a sorority, I don't play on an athletic team, and I don't drive a BMW, but I am still friends with greeks, athletes, and "rich" kids, lol, as some say. Sure, some kids are discriminating, but let them be, who are they hurting, but themselves? The majority of Villanova students are excellent, upstanding people who want to be liked just as much as you.Transportation is a little difficult if you don't have a car, trains stop after 12:30 am, but there are always movies and food on campus for students, as well as lots of other activities. For me, Villanova really is a perfect fit and I wouldn't choose to be at any other school!
