Major: Physics (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a physics major at geneseo and I'll be graduating in a month, and I just wanted to say that this school has given me so much academically, socially, and extracurricularly, all with no debt, that I'm glad i came here instead of going to Johns Hopkins University. I originally was afraid that SUNY Geneseo had no name, and would have no research whatsoever, however, this is far from the truth! You'd think that Geneseo is a small liberal arts school like Colgate, but in reality, it's like a college with full opportunities! I was able to do internships, do research, work in the lab, volunteer, and join several clubs, in order to have a well rounded and very good well-rounded education.

I didn't go to Johns Hopkins undergrad back in 2001, however, now I will be going to Northwestern Medical School this coming fall, and the academics here are tough but doable. The physics/chem/bio departments really know their stuff and love teaching and gave me the opportunities to be where i am today.

When i initially came here, i thought that, man i'm not going to be able to get anywhere because this school was "unknown." But I was wrong, many grad. schools know about Geneseo's strong education, and I partially attribute this as to how i got into a strong med. school.

In my free time when i wasn't doing research work or volunteering as an EMT for Geneseo's volunteer squad, i was doing a lot of fun stuff.

Geneseo is NOT a boring place. There's plenty to do. Rochester is only 30 minutes away, there are almost twice as girls as guys :), and Geneseo has the most beautiful landscape. I remember how me and my buds would hike in the Genesee Valley ('twas beautiful when i saw the sun rise everyday through my dorm window), and the Geneseo Oktoberfest made socialization easy.

This is a bit rushed, but the only bad things i didn't like about this school was that they don't have an engineering program (they do have a 3 year at geneseo and 2 year at rpi program though Co-op kinda thing), the people could sometimes be competitive but was very doable.

Academics are hard but doable as previously said, but should not be neglected as following a good study program is crucial.

Visit this school, it's so beautiful, and the professors are amazing.
