Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred from Michigan State after one year, because I felt like I was wasting my time and money on a party school. I am happy to say that Michigan was the perfect fit for me, and I absolutely love being here. However, it's not for everyone. The classes are very difficult, and you are expected to learn on your own - no one is going to hold your hand anymore. However, what I like about the classes here is that not only do they teach you what you're "supposed" to know, but they teach you how to learn. The student body is also very large, but unlike a lot of people who commented here, I consider that to be a big positive - you're going to get every different possible viewpoint here, and there's sure to be some sort of organization that corresponds to your interests. There is one other thing that my roomates and I have discussed, and that everyone should know before coming here. For the most part, the LSA majors are NOT practical, get a great job right out of college majors. The LSA programs really focus on giving you a very, very good understanding of theories, and again, teaching you how to think for yourself. You should plan on going to grad school, because that's really what your major prepares you for. (This is less true for the Business school and the College of Engineering, etc.) If this is something that you're not comfortable with, you might want to pick somewhere else, but if you're like me and planned on grad school anyway, you'll love it here.
As for other things, the social life is great, there's always something to do, I absolutely love the city, and NOTHING beats Michigan Football Saturdays :)
