Purdue is a great place if you are looking for fewer distractions so you can concentrate on your studies but you still want to be relatively close to a major metro area (Chicago- 2 hours away, Indianapolis- 1 hour). The facilities have been greatly upgraded in recent years. Quality of dorms vary so apply early & check out the different forms so that you can get one of the better ones.Purdue is the 3rd largest Greek (fraternity & sorority) system in the US so it has a significant presence on campus & in social life but it is possible to not rush & still have fun. But, there are many fraternities or sororities who break the typical "frat" house stereotypes and some are even alcohol free.
