I personally loved my experience at SUNY Geneseo. I graduated from a very very small school (28 kids in my graduating class!), so the small town atmosphere of Geneseo was very familiar and nice for me. It's not for everyone of course. I made a wonderful group of friends my freshman year when I lived in the residence halls. This group of friends (and my boyfriend of four years) were the best thing I took away from Geneseo, but that is in addition to a top notch education as well! I had an on-campus job for all four years, which I loved. There are many on-campus jobs available to interested students. There is a lot of partying going on at Geneseo, but there is other stuff to do as well, and Rochester is not even a half hour away. Professors are overall very nice. The English and Sociology departments are great. The workload is not easy, but it is not overwhelming either. Overall, I would say that SUNY Geneseo is a great school for individuals who are comfortable in a small town setting and prepared to work hard academically.
