Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
The Engineering School at USC is as good as any in the country, the coursework and opportunities for undergrads there rival Stanford or MIT. My degree was very much respected in interviews and I could count on finding sympathetic alumni anywhere I went to work. The prestige of the school is less pronounced on the East Coast, where everyone collectively worships the Ivys, but I found that I learned things getting my BSEE that helped me embarass and outshine Harvard and MIT PhDs when it came time to actually know something relevant.
You can't ask for a better college setting, and you don't need a car to enjoy LA. The bus is cheap and safe and by the time you finish your reading for class, it will have brought you to the beach or the clubs and theatres of Hollywood. Anyone who complains about the lack of a social scene in a city or a campus as diverse as this didn't try at all.
Think of USC as MIT but with beautiful girls and nice weather. I had a wonderful time there, and enjoyed being able to catch movies at the film school or watch the football team win when I needed a break from class.
The faculty can be sometimes absorbed with their research but the school has merit programs to get undergrads involved in that too. Plus, they keep some profs around who actually love teaching (like Ghandi Puuvada when

I was there.)
