Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
History department here is strong; one of the stronger of the humanities departments. Rice, however, has traditionally been focused on the maths and sciences, although a lot of our social sciences and humanities are gaining national recognition. I'm especially fond of the history department, although I think our English department can use a little work. There's too much work here. If you want to breeze by at a grade-inflated Ivy, don't come here. Else, this is a great institution. As much as I dislike Houston, you don't even feel its presence when you're behind the hedges. And even when you do go out exploring, the surrounding area of Rice is amazing, and even other parts of Houston surprise me.
