Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
The courses are challenging, and the profs give interesting lectures and are always happy to help you outside of class. But with so many engineering majors, being a bio major makes you feel quite outnumbered. It's nice that everyone takes the same science core so everyone knows what you're talking about when you complain about the special relativity midterm or frosh chem, but at the same time, it seems like school is the only thing students talk about. Since everyone here was at the top of their class in high school, a lot of people are out to prove how smart they are to everyone else, and can get quite defensive when they make a mistake, which gets old fast.Although Claremont itself has no really social scene, LA and the beach are only an hour away. But no one goes off campus anyway, and the social scene is strictly limited to on-campus parties. Great school for academics, horrible for a fun college experience.
