Greek life is HUGE here. Admissions may downplay it, but campus social life does revolve around fraternities and sororities. We are a huge party school-beer at all frats and they're open every weekend and you can always get in. Drinking in dorms happens everyday. Not to mention the downtown scene is huge, although cabs rip you off hardcore. Vandy kids know how to work, but also how to party.

We do not have a lot of team spirit, so don't really be looking for it among sports. A lot of people here have a great deal of money, so you see BMWs and mercedes all the time. Everyone wears Burberry, Northface, Seven jeans, coach, etc. And everyone looks nice for class most of the time, so don't expect to go in sweats everyday.

I guess my main quarrel with Vandy is the lack of intellecutal communication. Outside of classes, everyone just basically parties, and those usual midnight philosophical conversations you hear about just don't happen. Classes stress us out so much that we just do our work and then go and party mindlessly. This can be a very difficult school.

Despite all this, I really have enjoyed my time at Vandy. I have great friends, helpful and informative professors (usually), and I have so much fun and learn a lot too. There are a variety of campus activities and organizations, its just a matter of actually joining them. ANd my sorority is tons of fun, it's something I would not have done had i gone to a different school, but i'm glad i did. Sometimes the superficiality can piss you off, though, and the girls here are WAY better looking then the guys. :) And the buildings and grounds are GORGEOUS, one of the main reasons I came. I love the size, and how it's a closed campus in a big city.
